Background In 1989 the Foundation for Violence-Free Living (Stiftung Gewaltfreies Leben) was founded in Koenigsfeld located in the Black Forest of Southern Germany. The Foundation tries to encourage the people of this world to be more concerned about the creation of a non-violent environment. Since 1996 we use the image of the BLUE ROSE as the symbol for non-violence. What does non-violence mean? We try to describe it under NONVIOLENCE We feel that most people in this world want to live in peace and security, in an environment free of violence. Many people all over the world are working for this goal. But we have to admit we are far away from fulfilment of this idea. On the contrary: violence in its various forms seems to engulf more and more people. It is especially sad that it afflicts the children of this world. We feel that the quality of our lives and our happiness would be greatly improved if non-violent methods would become more prevalent in solving our problems. The future belongs to you, the young people of this world. As we adults have been so limited in reaching this goal of a non-violent world we like to ask the youth of this world to become active themselves. Maybe with your help we can make more progress.
